Possession

Acknowledgments to howardlyon.com for the image Whilst watching the movie Possession (2009) last week by director Joel Bergvall, I remembered several stories that I had heard about trances, bad spirits and possessions. The movie was about two brothers who had a head on collision, and as their blood which spilt on the ground met, their souls seemed to be linked. One was able to possess the others body, and vice versa. When I was younger, and ultimately less experienced in this world, I never believed or even paid mind to such tales. They were fiction, faery tales told to deter children and adults from unscrupulous behaviour. However, after several years of life experience, I have learnt to be open minded with regard to such renditions, especially when they are made by reputable people like clergymen and sober individuals. Here is a story about an apparent possession told by a young gentleman travelling on the train in the Sydney CBD. The young man having finished work at a lat

Messages from the other side

Acknowledgements to tarotguild.com  for the image. Throughout my life, I have heard several stories about the other side . In fact all the stories collected and written in this blog, come from people doing all sorts of jobs all over the world, and their stories seem to link us to the other side . I once went for spiritual classes held by a Hindu devotee. Here I learnt the soul is like a light, that energises the body giving it life. Also, the souls of all creatures on earth are linked, we are all part of one entity that is God, and our task is to get back to the all mighty. The messages we receive here on earth, seem to be guides, or warnings. Their meanings are sometimes unclear, but if we can unravel them, we may be able to have a smoother existence. This next story is about an unclear message. A young gentleman, arrived at fifteen minutes to midnight at a maternity ward in Pietermaritzburg. He was there to meet his girlfriend ,who worked nights at the unit for her midnight lu

Quarantine Station in Manly Sydney

The land upon which, the Quarantine Station in Manly was built, was first occupied by the aborigines. After the first British fleets came to Australia, the settlers negotiated with the natives, and took over the land. The arrival of subsequent other fleets, and the prevalence of disease on board the ships, resulted in an area being needed for the temporal housing of the sick. So, the above building was built, and the sick were housed and treated there. Unfortunately medicine was still a work in progress, and several people died in this building. The building was used for 140 years as a quarantine site for settlers, and the last ship that brought in occupants was in 1975. Due to its history the building is now a heritage site, and presently conducts tours. One tour that enthralled my friend
